About Tribune Publications

An independent publishing house for local journalism, operating thirty-three publications under a single editorial standard.

Who we are

Tribune Publications is an independent publishing house. The company owns and operates local news publications and is run as a publisher, not a platform: editorial judgment first, audiences earned title by title.

Our history

Tribune Publications was founded in 1991 in Zürich, Switzerland, where the company remains headquartered.

In August 2019 the company was acquired by Odegard Group. At the time of acquisition, the portfolio comprised approximately one hundred titles, principally print publications across Europe. Following the acquisition, the company undertook a comprehensive strategic restructuring: operations were reorganized around a lean, remote-first operating model, and the portfolio was rationalized to thirty-three publications governed by a single editorial standard.

That early commitment to distributed operations became a decisive competitive advantage. When the pandemic forced the news industry to improvise remote work in 2020, Tribune Publications was already built for it. Publishing continued without interruption while the program to rebuild every title for digital-first local publishing accelerated. The company did not convert to digital-first under pressure. It was already there, and that head start is why it leads the industry's transition instead of following it.

The remote-first model also provides structural resilience. With no dependence on centralized newsrooms, the company sustains continuous operations through global disruption, keeping every title publishing under any conditions.

The company

Tribune Publications GmbH is a private, for-profit, remote-first publishing house headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. The network comprises thirty-three publications.

What we publish

Thirty-three local news publications organized across five market groups: Napa Valley and wine country, the Bay Area, Southern California, the United States, and international markets including New York, Colorado, Monaco, Norway, Canada, India, Switzerland, and Britain. The full portfolio directory lists every title.

Reach

The network reaches more than 200 million readers a month, measured as monthly unique visitors across the thirty-three publications. For brands, that is thirty-three distinct local audiences through a single partnership: buy one market, several, or the whole network. Advertising and partnerships.

How we operate

Shared infrastructure, distinct publications. The company centralizes the systems where scale is an advantage: publishing technology, editorial standards, analytics, advertising infrastructure, and security. Each publication retains its own masthead, editorial priorities, voice, and community identity.

What we do not do

The company does not sell its titles, nor does it merge them to manufacture scale. Overlapping markets are deliberate: each title earns its own audience, and consolidation is never the remedy for overlap.

The institutional home

The publications are the reader-facing brands. This site is the institutional home of the company: corporate information, editorial standards, advertising and partnerships, press, and careers.
